Repeat local customers familiar with the serving staff was surely a great sign.
Sure enough, Duck with Rama special sauce was a very savory and tender selection. Our son ordered a small portion, and got a generous serving. He has a large appetite so even with an order of spring rolls beforehand...he was happy with a pleasant surprise.
My Pad Thai was a heaping, steaming plate of noodles and shrimp. It was a tad sweeter than I expected,, but somehow before we knew it, the entire plate was scraped clean. -

Ok. So I'm not sure how this place passes fire inspections because there are literally no windows and as far as I can tell one entrance/exit. It's one of those places that if someone didn't tell you to eat there, you probably wouldn't. Also... no windows so it looks like a gentlemen's club and you always feel like you're going in the wrong door or something. Trust me...that's the door. All that to say the food is EXCELLENT.
The service is hit or miss. There may be only 2 people working in the whole place, honestly that's sort of how it seems but their food makes up for it.
Decor is...weird and outdated. Some sort of strange plaster work on the walls. So if you're looking for an upscale, top notch service sort of place, this is not it; if you want excellent Thai food you should risk the odd building. Pad Thai is out of this world and the fire pot soup is excellent and I could eat the panang beef at least once a week. -

As posted in other reviews the front door of the restaurant is a bit difficult to identify, but it is the door on the front of the restaurant right underneath the number of the building. The inside of the restaurant doesn't have any windows as a forewarning in case you get claustrophobic.
Our waitress and the service was absolutely fantastic! Our waitress was extremely attentive and answered our questions patiently. She was also cracking jokes with us and seemed to really enjoy her job.
All of our food came out extremely quickly and was flavorful and delicious. The portions were generous and were priced fairly low. The real standout to me was the fried bananas with durian ice cream. The bananas were fried very well and the flavor of the ice cream was the delicate and light. Overall, I would definitely come back again! -

Rama continues to be solid. New favorites include Panang curry dishes, and Pad Kee Mao. Some dishes though, such as garlic pork and steak Rama, are weak.

The Thai game in Baton Route only has a few players with Rama close to the top. Is this really the best Thai food in the entire city? Probably not but is it among the most popular? Definitely. With big platters and a killer ambiance, Rama certainly impresses, but where they could use a little improvement is with the service. For now, I give them three stars rounded up to four.
